Statistics published by Kidsafe NSW (http://www.kidsafensw.org/roadsafety/driveways_safety.htm) suggest that one child is run over in a driveway each week in Australia and the majority of these incidents involve a reversing vehicle. This has been the topic of recent media discussion in terms of fencing driveways in new homes to restrict access by children and many new vehicles, at the top end of the market, are now being fitted with rear view cameras as standard equipment. After market options for this technology are available, however, for installation in any vehicle.
To reduce dashboard clutter opt for a combined GPS - rear view camera unit with additional options of MP3 player and digital camera.
